    G.C. Alexander cards

    He just missed the main T and E issues I guess. I would like to own more but here's what I have, and I kick myself for selling a BVG 4 M101-2 a while back.

    Those are awesome! Here are my favorites. A friend just recently was kind enough to sell me the Diaz.

    One of my favorite cards is this Alexander with the rare large straight letter Gimbels back.

    How much rarer is this version of the Gimbels back? I don't think I've seen it before.

    The large straight letter back and the small straight letter back only appear on card numbers 1-20. The slanted print Gimbels backs appear on all numbers. Todd can speak to this better than I can, but my experience is that both these backs are scarcer than the Mall Theatre back, which is currently listed as the rarest back. I would guess that less than 1/100 Gimbels backs is a straight letter one (either large or small).

    That makes me feel a bit better as I’ve never seen one before.

    Nice card Jay. I have confirmed only 9 block letter Gimbels cards, 5 with the larger print and 4 smaller. That is half of the total number of Mall Theatre cards known to me; however, Mall Theatre is a 200 card set, whereas the Gimbels block letters are only found in cards 1-20, so they can reasonably be expected to show in lesser quantities.

    I've always thought Ogden Nash's Line-Up for Yesterday gets off to a great start.

    A is for Alex
    The great Alexander;
    More Goose eggs he pitched
    Than a popular gander.
