    Re: REA: THOUGHTS?

Strictly thinking about the material, I'm sure it's difficult to go from 2 to 3 same-sized auctions/yr without other factors changing.

I always find something to focus on in REA, but since I'm a set collector, some auctions have more than others...

+1. Thankfully!! Although I am sure I will buy something, bc how can you not participate in an REA extending bidding session?

After what I just went through with Grey Flannel, I’ll never complain again about any others’ extended bidding.

It's the lightest catalog that they have put out. I like REA

Nothing grabbed me. But then again it feels like there are about 47 significant auctions running right now.

Agreed. I'm in the exact same boat. I have a pretty focused collection so not every auction hits my wheelhouse, but I feel like I can always find a couple of great items in REA. Not really so with this one. Though, like you said, there's about a half dozen large auctions running now and more coming in August so maybe it evens out.

In terms of vintage what else besides REA and Heritage are you guys following closely?

    Re: REA: THOUGHTS?

Right now, I am focused on the two Heritage auctions (mostly T206s -- a few potential upgrades for my set before I reslab it and some rare backs). REA has lots of good stuff, but nothing specific I must have (usually there are at least 3-10 things). Mile High and LOTG will open soon, and Memory Lane always has a few things I want -- the 3 biggies (for me) that close in the wee hours of the morning.

The funny thing is that, so far among the current/active auctions, there is very little I feel I must have.

Both the quality of presentation and the diversity of material between REA and Heritage must go to Heritage. REA's catalog pictures of cards are under size with a disproportional amount of white space without reason. Heritage's offering of seldom seen classic 19th century cards are welcome also.

I’m looking at the W600 Young tonight in Heritage and trying to do an SGC pop report. Good luck.

    Hmmm. Just texted you.

SGC’s pop report is terrible for t206, e107, and w600

Love the 1999 National photos. Not one of the NSCC's best but great memories. I saw the late Al Rosen, Brian Morris. Frank Barning. Kevin Savage and a few other people pictured. Great to see them again!
